Copyright issues in filming an amateur dramatic performance to make a DVD?
I work for a really small film production company and we are thinking of offering a new service to local amateur dramatic societies whereby we film their performance, produce a DVD of it and allow them to sell it at their productions. Talking about this to someone, our editor was told that there may be performance rights issues. After much googling on the issue, we’ve found nothing to help us find the relevant information, nor anyone to ask. Can anyone help?

since the band owns the performance rights, that shouldn’t be an issue.
the only potential problem I see, i it the song is not an original.
then the sony would have copyright issues.
