Writers! How do you think the sudden volume of vampire novels now, will effect vampire novels in the future?
In the last few years, vampire books have come out in hordes. Some series pre-Twilight. Others–knock offs hoping to grab some of the vampire fan base that’s going around. (Parodies too! ^.^ ) I’ll say this much. Dracula and Lestat are a couple of guys I consider “Real” vampires. No sparkling involved. (If it’s in the horror section then dang it, I want something creepy to go with the intrigue )
But here’s my question! Vampires have always been an interest. (Look at Dracula! He’s how old? and he’s still going!) But with all of the “Fad” stories running around, do you think it will effect writers who write about vampires and the horror genre in the future? Will have a tougher time? Do you think that people’s perception of the “Vampire” has permanently changed?
Vampire popularity varies. It will fade at some point for awhile. But not entirely.
Vampire the Masquerade and Forever Knight will endure.
Heck, Vampire the Embraced is still available on DVD.
