Most of the time, individuals think about crime in terms of fascinating horror stories, while social scientists think about crime analytically how?

Even though I like certain movie genres like the Omen, the Exorcist, or Sharon Stone’s mystery movies, etc. I’m rather turned off by horror movies and books depicting gory scenes of decapitation, mutilation and dismemberment. I think horror
movies and books have a profoundly negative effect on the male psyche, leaving an indelible mark. Men are driven by testosterone as it is, and this just adds more fuel to the fire.

During the 1960′s thru the 1990′s there were serial killers galore rampaging all across America. The typical “profile” was a white male in his 20′s or 30′s “Most mass murderers are male, white, conservative and come from relatively stable, lower-middle-class backgrounds. They are not usually adopted, illegitimate or institutionalized as children.” (1)

There’s something to be said for sports, men who are devoted to sports tend to take their anger and frustration out in the field, and sports like martial arts teaches discipline.

In a perfect world, all men would be physicists, scientists and engineers, while women tended the family and had office jobs in finance, etc. I get upset when I see male chefs in restaurants, I mean, what are women supposed to be then–construction workers??! When sex roles are reversed, identity crises arise and people turn to homosexualtiy and lesbianism, because their roles are not clearly defined.

Nowadays you see women in weightlifting competitions with bulging biceps and extremely well defined muscles with flat chests (steroids). This cannot be good for society. Men should be men and women should be women. Violence, whether sexual or physical, makes women turn to male sports to increase their sense of power and it’s a defense mechanism. Drugs and alcohol are a cop out– the offender puts the blame on the fact that he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Guns are another cop out–it’s much easier to pick up a gun and blow someone’s head off at point blank range than to pick up a PHYSICS book….it’s just very tempting. Only law enforcement should have guns.

Long dubbed “the thinking man’s metal band,” Queensryche have always been difficult to classify; somewhere between Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd. Director Tony Scott’s tale of an ex-Marine-turned-bodyguard (Denzel Washington) who responds to the kidnapping of his young charge and her family with a violence-drenched cycle of revenge and torture is driven by the filmmaker’s typically manic visual sense. English composer Harry Gregson-Williams, whose conjured similar action-oriented synth-symphony fusion scores for The Rundown and Spy Game, de…

Gomorrah (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

$20.00

Though no one ever utters the name in Matteo Garrone’s powerful and disturbing Gomorrah, the Roman director drags the dark deeds of the Camorra into the cold light of day (the mob is based primarily in Naples and Caserta). Inspired by co-writer Roberto Saviano’s explosive exposé, Garrone (The Embalmer) takes an observant, documentary-like approach to the Neapolitan Mafia and their not-so-covert i…

West Side Story: 50th Anniversary Edition Box Set [Blu-ray]

$29.95

The winner of 10 Academy Awards, this 1961 musical by choreographer Jerome Robbins and director Robert Wise (The Sound of Music) remains irresistible. Based on a smash Broadway play updating Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to the 1950s era of juvenile delinquency, the film stars Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer as the star-crossed lovers from different neighborhoods–and ethnicities. The film’s real…
