Does your dog bark non-stop and you want to know what is the best way to train him or her to stop barking excessively? All dogs bark, that is what they do, but some dogs do tend to bark non-stop for various reasons but you can train your dog to stop barking.
The reason dogs bark can be a matter of them expressing needs, alerting you to danger, boredom, or barking at other animals. Some dog breeds tend to be naturally more likely to bark, these include hounds and some terriers. In order to stop the excessive barking, you should have a good idea why your dog is barking.
Once you have determined the reason for the barking you need to make sure that you are not rewarding your dog for the unwanted behavior. The ways you may be unwittingly rewarding your dogs barking include:
• Yelling and screaming at the dog, this gives the dog attention if that is what they are seeking
• If you dog is outside with non-stop barking and then you open the door and let him inside, that is a reward, in the dog’s mind
• Giving the dog a hug or comfort when they are continuously barking is another reward
When dogs are excessively barking at objects or other animals, the best way to stop the barking is through desensitization. This means you need to expose your dog to the thing that is making him go nuts. Therefore, if the dog is barking at other animals, you need to begin socializing the dog and allow him to be around other animals. Every time your dog does not bark at another animal, offer a reward or praise him. He will soon make the connection.
If your dog is barking because he is bored, it probably means he is not getting enough exercise. Therefore, you need to either take him on longer walks to tire him out, or get him interactive toys to stimulate his mind because this will give him something to do and the boredom will cease as well as the barking.
If you feeling like pulling your hair out because your dog barks at everything you are not alone. While some dogs will bark more then others they can all be trained to stop barking. With proper dog training, barking for no reason can be stopped.
A good way to train your dog is through clicker training for dogs. Clicker training is a safe and effective method to teach your dog good behavior without the need for punishment.
Are you ready to reclaim the peace and quite in your house again?
Old elephants walking behind a waterfall to die in a Disney comic?
I have a very vague recollection of a Donald Duck comic, most likely drawn by Carl Barks, where our heroes discover a waterfall through which old elephants walk to die. Behind the waterfall, there is a mountain of bones of dead elephants.
Is my memory doing tricks, or does this story exist? If it does, what’s the name of the story?
Thanks.
It exist. I cant remember it to save my soul, but I know I read it a few weeks ago going thru my Disney Duck Collection of Graphic novels.
Gladstone years ago reprinted this and a few other stories in graphic albums. I think it is a Barks, not a Don Rosa..as I remember it, it was Uncle Scooge, Donald and the Boys (Not as Junior Woodchucks nor Ducktails)
I will try to remember the title
