Boyd Western

Which books should i read? (List)
Okay so for my english 2 honors class we’re supposed to read a couple off this list.
Boyd, Any Human Heart
Camus, The Stranger
Cervantes, Don Quixote
Dante, Inferno
Dumas, Count of Monte Cristo
Golding, Lord of the Flies
Grass, Tin Drum
More, Sir Thomas, Utopia
Remarque, All Quiet on the Western Front
Sartre, No Exit and Three Other Plays
Swift, Gulliver’s Travels
vonGoethe, Sorrows of Young Werther
Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek
which ones do you recommend?
i’m a pretty diverse reader.
i am a 15 year old girl, but i enjoy politics, civilization; etc.
if you’ve read any, or recognized an author, let me know
Wow, that’s a great list to choose from. I’d say Don Quixote, The Count of Monte Cristo, or Lord of the Flies are the best ones on that list.
I am actually reading the Tin Drum at the moment and I like it so far.
The Stranger, Dante’s Inferno, and All Quiet on the Western Front are good but based on your age, I dont know if you’d like them (even though I’m sure you would have no trouble understanding them).

An Unfinished Life $5.95 Much like the late Rodney Dangerfield, some films just can’t get any respect. Shelved by Miramax for two years, An Unfinished Life was released with little fanfare between Morgan Freeman’s Oscar win and Lasse Hallström’s higher-profile Casanova. Despite critical praise from some quarters, the heartland drama got lost amidst the shuffle. The title comes from the epitaph of Griffin, late son of Wyo… |

The War Wagon $3.39 John Wayne and Kirk Douglas make a delightful duo in this comedic Western in which Wayne seeks revenge on a ruthless mine owner (Bruce Cabot) who had him framed and sent to prison. Upon his release, Wayne recruits Douglas in a scheme to raid and rob one of Cabot’s gold-laden wagons, despite the fact that Douglas had been offered good money to kill Wayne. He joins Wayne instead (the potential profi… |

The Man from Laramie $7.50 Only John Ford excelled Anthony Mann as a purveyor of eye-filling Western imagery, and Mann’s best films are second to no one’s when it comes to the fusion of dynamic action, rugged landscapes, and fierce psychological intensity. The Man from Laramie is the last of five remarkable Westerns the director made with James Stewart (starting with Winchester ’73 and peaking with The Naked Spur). … |

Bravados [VHS] $2.50 During his Twentieth Century Fox contract years, Gregory Peck looked to veteran director Henry King as something of a father figure and gave two of his best performances–in Twelve O’Clock High (1949) and The Gunfighter (1950)–for him. The Bravados (1958) isn’t in that league, but it’s a surprisingly tough film from the flabby CinemaScope years when the studio, director, and star all seemed to be… |
