When it comes to boys, so much change in so little time? Parents often see it for themselves how boys grow out of their clothes so fast. You will see them move in and out of interests just as fast. This is why gifts for boys are a hit and miss affair. Sometimes, you may be bang on target while there are instances when the boy simply won’t like the idea of your gift. You may be wondering what could have probably gone wrong?

Well, it’s the age of the child and in case of boys, their changing age really matters. A preteen boy for instance will not want the same gift that he was happy with just a few years ago. The same goes with teenager boys. Obviously, you won’t get them toys, but will search for some grown-up gifts. So once you register the approximate age of the child, buying gifts for boys will not remain a challenge anymore.

Starting with the 3-7 year age group, you will find that it’s really fun to shop for boys in this age group. Possibly because this is the most impressionable age and boys get excited in opening the gift, let alone knowing about their presents. The boys of this age will enjoy anything from Bob the Builder to the interactive T.J. Bearytales. Knowing their nature can also help in buying gifts for boys. If the boy gets attracted to illustrations, then buying the captivating “I Spy” themed books can be a nice idea. You can even surprise your loved ones by presenting a little adventure castle that goes big on adventure.

No matter what age group your under teen boy is, he will most certainly be a collector of sports toys. They are just crazy about racing cars and not to forget the dirt tracks. A set of gifts for boys will be incomplete without sports items. There aren’t many boys who don’t like running and jumping around. So a basketball or a soft football play set can be wonderful way to introduce your boy to athletics.

It is also virtually impossible to find a boy in the early teens who doesn’t want a video game. Boys at this age group are at their prime for video gaming. This is the age when the reaction time in boys is at its peak, and they can easily beat a 35-year old man at a PS2 game. It’s most unlikely that a boy won’t already have a gaming system at home, but getting him a pocket buster video game will truly make his day.

Boys of all ages love action. Of course, they get their inspirations from cartoons, comics and the action packed video games. Some great gifts for boys can be toy figures of their favorite action heroes. Though boys are quite choosy about their gifts, it’s not really hard to please them. Video games, action figures or DVDs of movies laden with action or science fiction can be some of the gifts that are an all time hit.

Where can I find a wordless comic book that would be interesting to an 11 year old boy?

I am sponsoring an Ethiopian and his birthday is this month. I want to send him a gift, but it has to be paper and flat. I was thinking that 11 year olds love comic books, but he only speaks Amharic and so I would need one without words. I need one that is… well… innocent (it’s through a church program), but not too childish because he IS 11 and I don’t want to insult him.

Owly, maybe?

Must everything have a point? That’s the question posed by Harry Nilsson’s 1971 pop parable of a well-rounded young boy named Oblio, from the Land of Point, who’s cast apart from the community by those who resent his pointlessness. Conceived when the gifted singer-songwriter was on an acid trip, The Point! is a product of its time, what with its central theme (the hollowness of conformity) and orn…

This ’90s update of the Spencer Tracy-Elizabeth Taylor hit is a mix of the pleasant and the silly, a nice enough movie but a little too controlled to become particularly interesting. Steve Martin plays the aging patriarch who is threatened by his daughter’s engagement and not-quite-willing to let her go. The writing-directing team of Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers provides Martin’s character with …

Secondhand Lions

Secondhand Lions

$3.05

If you can get past its thick layer of syrup and molasses, Secondhand Lions reveals itself as a thoroughly decent family film that anyone can enjoy. It gets a little sappy sometimes, but there’s something to be said for a movie in which Michael Caine and Robert Duvall play eccentric old brothers who take the easy approach to fishing: instead of a peaceful rod and reel, they use 12-gauge shotguns. …
